Frequently Asked Questions
What's the hardest part about taking the course?
Taking the first step.
Moving overseas, starting a new career, meeting new people, and stepping outside your comfort zone can feel overwhelming. That's completely normal.
The good news? Thousands of our graduates have taken that leap—and almost all say it was one of the best decisions they've ever made. They gained practical skills, lifelong friendships, confidence, and a career that opened doors around the world.
At TEFL International Krabi, we guide you through every stage of your journey—from planning your trip to landing your first teaching job. And remember: if teaching abroad isn't for you, home will still be there. But you'll never know what you're capable of unless you give yourself the chance.
Sometimes, the biggest hurdle is simply booking your ticket.
Will I get a job after completing the course?
Yes. Every graduate of our 4-week TEFL International Krabi course receives guaranteed job placement assistance, with teaching opportunities available upon successful completion.
Before you enroll, we're happy to provide a free consultation to discuss your goals and explain your job options.
How much can I earn as an English teacher?
Salaries vary depending on the country.
Thailand: Typically 30,000–50,000 THB per month for new teachers (more with experience).
Cambodia: Around US$1,000 per month.
Interested in another destination? Tell us where you'd like to teach, and we'll provide realistic salary expectations based on our global network of partner schools.
Can teaching become a long-term career?
Absolutely.
Many of our graduates arrive planning to teach for a year—and end up building rewarding international careers. With worldwide demand for qualified English teachers and our ongoing career support, teaching can become a profession that lets you travel, grow professionally, and live in amazing places.
How valuable is the TEFL International TESOL Certificate?
TEFL International has over 50 years of teacher training experience and has trained teachers across more than 40 locations worldwide.
Our internationally recognized 120+ hour TESOL program includes:
At least 120 hours of training
6 hours of observed teaching practice
Classroom observations of experienced teachers
Training to teach both children and adults
Our programs have been moderated by internationally respected TESOL experts and used by governments, universities, and educational institutions throughout Asia and beyond.
While course content is important, the quality and experience of your trainers matter just as much. Our experienced trainers don't just prepare you to teach—they help you build a successful international career.
What accreditation does the course have?
TEFL International Krabi is accredited by the Paris University of International Education (PUIE).
Graduates receive:
A TEFL International Certificate
Three undergraduate college credits
An official PUIE transcript
Your transcript demonstrates that your training includes an accredited teaching practicum—something increasingly required by schools worldwide.
Both our onsite and Hybrid TEFL courses receive the same accreditation.
How does your accreditation compare to Level 5 TEFL courses?
There is no single international body that officially accredits TEFL courses worldwide.
Many providers state they "meet" UK OFQUAL Level 5 standards, but OFQUAL does not accredit overseas TEFL providers.
Our programs exceed the standard 120-hour model through extensive teaching practice, practical classroom experience, and guaranteed job placement. Because of this practical focus, our training would compare favourably with higher-level vocational programs.
We encourage prospective students to compare not only course hours, but also teaching practice, trainer experience, accreditation, and graduate support.
What support do you provide?
Our values are simple: Kindness, Honesty, and Clarity.
From your first enquiry to your first teaching job—and beyond—we're here to help.
We support you with:
Career advice and job planning
Travel guidance
Accommodation assistance
Airport arrival support
Course mentoring
Job placement
Lifetime career guidance
You're never on your own.
Why is your course more expensive than some others?
Our course includes far more than classroom instruction.
You'll receive comprehensive practical training, guaranteed job placement, ongoing mentoring, experienced trainers, community connections, and lifetime career support.
Compared with many premium TEFL programs—including CELTA—we offer exceptional value while providing a broader support network.
Why do I need to study onsite? Do you offer an online option?
Teaching is a practical profession. Like learning a language, it's something you learn by doing.
Schools value graduates who have real classroom experience—not just an online certificate.
For students who need more flexibility, we also offer a Hybrid TEFL course twice each year. Complete most of the theory online, then spend 10 days in Thailand completing your teaching practicum before beginning your teaching career.
Are there any additional costs?
Tuition does not include:
Flights to Thailand
Accommodation
Visa fees (if applicable)
Students enrolled in our Ruby or Sapphire programs should also budget for a one-way regional flight to Siem Reap or Ho Chi Minh City, after the initial 2 weeks in Krabi course (cost about $100).
We'll help you find affordable accommodation that suits your budget.
Why do you offer six different TEFL programs?
Every student has different goals.
All six programs include the same internationally recognized TEFL curriculum but each offers different specialist teaching methods, community projects, cultural experiences, and local activities, allowing you to choose the program that best matches your interests.
Do I have to volunteer?
No.
Volunteering is optional, but many students find it one of the most rewarding parts of the program.
Our community projects allow you to connect with local people while making a positive impact. In return, volunteers enjoy complimentary weekend activities such as Thai boxing, meditation retreats, climbing, local excursions, language classes, and more.
Do I need a university degree?
Not necessarily.
Some countries require a degree for visa purposes, while others do not.
Thanks to our worldwide network, we can help you identify destinations where you qualify to teach based on your experience and background.
Do I need to be a native English speaker?
No.
Many of our graduates are successful non-native English-speaking teachers (NNES).
Applicants should have a minimum English level of CEFR B2 or IELTS 6.5. If you're unsure of your level, contact us for a free assessment.
Do I need to speak the local language?
No.
Most schools actually prefer teachers to use English in the classroom, helping students build confidence communicating naturally.
That said, learning the local language enriches your experience. That's why we offer complimentary Thai, Vietnamese, and Khmer language classes.
Is there an age limit?
Students must be at least 18 years old.
There is no upper age limit. Many graduates begin teaching later in life, and schools often value the maturity and life experience they bring.
Where can I stay in Krabi?
We can help arrange affordable accommodation, including:
Budget rooms from around US$300/month
Private houses from around US$500/month
You're also welcome to arrange your own accommodation, and we'll gladly help if you need recommendations.
Do I need medical insurance?
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance while attending the course.
Once employed and holding a work permit, you'll typically be covered under the local healthcare and social security system.
What size are the classes?
To ensure personal attention and plenty of teaching practice, classes are limited to 12 students.
